Chlorine - Introduction

INEOS Technologies is a leading licensor of chlor-alkali electrochemical technology with the bipolar BICHLOR™ and monopolar FM1500™ membrane electrolysers, and also provides CHLORCOAT™ electrode coatings for the chlor-alkali industry.

INEOS is a major European chlor-alkali producer with a history of manufacturing chlorine and caustic soda dating back to 1897. INEOS in the UK operates chlorine manufacturing plants with two different technologies - mercury and membrane. These two technologies were developed using INEOS Technologies' research and development capabilities. 

INEOS Technologies has been continually developing membrane electrolysers for over 30 years and the results of this development are shown in the BICHLOR™, bipolar electrolyser and FM™1500 monopolar electrolyser.

In addition INEOS Technologies provides comprehensive process design packages (PDP’s), installation, commissioning and long term technical support as well as support for conversion of existing mercury and diaphragm cell rooms to membrane technology.
