Vinyls - Economics
INEOS Technologies’ EDC/VCM/PVC plant designs have been developed on INEOS Vinyls’ plants and licensed designs to minimize total installed cost and give a very low capital cost per tonne as well as superior performance with low operating and maintenance cost.
PVC
- Low Cost Initiator reduces initiator costs to those of the precursors, all of which are easily available chemicals. This gives a significant saving in additive costs per tonne of PVC.
- The process allows fast reactions without the need to use chilled water for cooling the reactors. This is especially an advantage where cooling water temperatures are high because it saves the capital expense of a large refrigeration system and high electricity costs.
- Stripping technology has low steam consumption.
EDC/VCM
- Lowest cost in Raw Materials usages (Chlorine, Ethylene, Oxygen) due to high conversions and selectivities.
- Maximum usage of energy sources in process.
- Optimized materials of construction to maximize on stream time and minimize maintenance cost.
- Two years average between turnarounds.
- Easy and Stable operations with turndowns to 20%.
