EDC Catalysts - Oxychlorination Fixed-Bed Catalysts (IVOC-P)
![]()
INEOS Technologies has built extensive technical know-how in the field of Fixed-Bed oxychlorination process through operation of the INEOS ChlorVinyls plants (with heritage from EVC, ICI, Hydro Polymer and previously also from Enichem) and through collaboration with fixed bed oxychlorination licensees over more than 40 years.
Our R&D & TS team has integrated this process know-how, together with the strong background and extensive knowledge in the catalyst field to develop new oxychlorination catalysts suitable for the Fixed-Bed oxychlorination process.
INEOS Technologies offers IVOC fixed bed catalysts for the following processes:
- Single-stage oxygen-based
- Two-stage oxygen-based
- Three-stage oxygen-based
- Three-stage air-based or oxygen enriched air based
With a thorough understanding of:
- Oxychlorination kinetics through experimental and industrial work.
- Interaction between the catalyst carrier and the active phase.
- Deactivation mechanisms through studying catalysts from industrial and pilot processes.
- Development of mathematical models for Fixed-Bed reactors, verified by industrial results.
This understanding helps us to provide an excellent service to our customers.
As part of the Fixed-Bed Catalyst supply, we can recommend the implementation of the best operating conditions for optimum performance of each oxychlorination unit - as conditions vary from site to site. One possibility on which to focus is the potential increase of capacity by matching the plant conditions with an optimum loading pattern and most suited catalysts. Capacity increases were successfully carried out in several units around the world. Optimisation of catalyst and conditions have also lead the way in the development of the Single-Stage Process in operation at Runcorn, UK.
